Prak Monirath

Currently, I am the president of the Khmer Youth Association (KYA) through vote elections from KYA members in 2020.

As president of KYA, taking on leadership responsibilities resembles being a role model to inspire colleagues and to put efforts into strategic planning and policy compliance. The specific experience covers working with youth and other networks, partners in diverse working cultures, and achieving.

An experienced development worker has a wide range of skills in project management, proposal writing, advocacy, and partnership building, leading and managing organizational development, monitoring, evaluation, coordination events with partners and networks at national and subnational levels, as well as developing the organization strategy.

Furthermore, from 2014 to now, I have also served as a vice leader for the Cambodia Young Women Empowerment Network (CYWEN), which was my volunteer work with other diverse women in Cambodia. My role with CYWEN was to make sure Cambodian society had young women who were self-confident, competent, and valuable for participating in decision-making processes for community development.

The specific experience covers working with youth in diverse working cultures and achieving high-quality results. Further in the capacity of permanent member and advisor, greatly contributed to external agencies such as UNDP. As a member of the UN Youth Advisory Panel, I assisted UNDP in organizing a workshop on youth issues on International Day, comprising International Women’s Day and International Youth Day, in particular, working with other members to bring issues of youth to the UN agency.

As a senior project officer at the Youth Coalition for Unity and Development (YCUD) of Cambodia, I prioritize working for national advocacy of youth and youth policy development for youth. I worked with youth to strengthen their advocacy and planning skills through training on advocacy, good governance, democracy, and human rights. At the national level, I was facilitating the advocacy of YCUD organization members with the government and ministry, such as youth quotas and youth policy for political parties and youth participation in policy development, and facilitating the process of youth debate office-line activities such as mock youth parliaments and youth online debates via the platform of YCUD called the “Youth Coalition Forum”.

Prior to working with YCUD, I was a project officer at Khmer Youth Association (KYA) to provide capacity development on climate change, leadership skills, facilitation skills, advocacy skills, and alcohol prevention to KYA youth groups. Education is crucial to promoting youth empowerment to ensure that the youth understand and address their problems, empowering them with the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes needed to act as agents of change. In terms of training capacity, I had experience developing training curriculum and modules for teaching NGOs staff and youth various soft skills and being the speaker to share media information and literacy with youth and other NGOs during national and international events.

Besides working with NGOs, I was a co-founder and head of business partnership at ASEAN Talent Delivery. In the private sector, I collaborated with partners to develop and implement new companies to drive incremental revenue and marketing contribution. Additionally, I Analyzed and improved business results, reporting on results, and communicated with various internal stakeholders. Identifying potential partners, leading the negotiation process from scratch, and managing partnership through to execution.
